The life and times of Karen Hederson / GOLDEN

Västerbottensteatern, Skellefteå

The life and times of Ms. Karen Henderson (Act 1)

A lively and colorful dance solo with a touch of ironic humor.
The Life and Times of Ms. Karen Henderson is a colorful firework display filled with a great dose of ironic humor, ambiguity and a lot of dance. A multi-faceted solo performance that, for fifty minutes, addresses issues of cultural identity and ethnicity, mixed with stereotypical notions that many have about dancing as a profession.

GOLDEN (Act 2)
A manifestation of the right to take a seat.
Golden is inspired by the 70s disco culture where the dancer slides around like a stream of gold. Golden is a tribute to all the bodies that are usually not allowed to take place on our stages. At the same time, it is an exploration of how voice and body can interact and influence each other to stimulate new forms of expression. Golden is a critical examination of issues related to representation on the Swedish dance scenetoday, especially related to ethnicity and body. What types of bodies will fit most on the dance scene today? What skin color do they have?
