Skellefteå museum, Skellefteå

Barnsia is open for pre-booked visits. Due to the prevailing pandemic and the Public Health Agency's special advice for Västerbotten, we only accept a party of a maximum of 5 people at a time. Go to our website to read more and book!

The interactive play exhibition Barnsia gives the children an entrance to culture, both from a local historical perspective but also as a tool to awaken her curiosity for learning with the play as a means. We want to build a world where the child can explore the conditions that existed for people who were early residents or settled in our region; animal, agriculture and the vital extraction of natural resources; the wood and the mines.

Our vision is to create a place where the young children can absorb the cultural heritage with all their senses and where people can socialize, play and learn across the boundaries of generations.

The name Barnsia is based on dialect (Bonnska) and in this context means "the children's side" or "the children's area".
