52 readings of Sara Lidman
Skellefteå
"Why am I not involved in changing the world?"
This is what Sara Lidman writes in her diary in the summer of 1976. Sara was self-critical there. Now, when Sara culture house opens, Skellefteå will at least change. 52 weeks ahead, she will be a regular feature in her own house. From her large personal archive at Umeå University, texts from letters, diaries, speeches, newspaper articles and more are presented. From the first preserved diary entry on 30 December 1941 to one of the last debate articles on 17 July 2003.
52 speakers give voice to Sara's lyrics. The program series starts on Wednesday 8 September 2021 and ends on Wednesday 31 August 2022.
Location City Library, Västerbottensrummet
Time 16.30 with two exceptions - 12.00 Wednesday 6 January and Wednesday 25 May, day before red day. The program time varies between 10 and 30 minutes.
Already 85 years ago, when Sara visited Skellefteå for the first time as a 13-year-old, she stated: "I thought Skellefteå was a good city and decided to take a place there when I grew up."
