Troika! Three of the country's leading youth symphony orchestras

Stage 1, Sara kulturhus, Skellefteå

It will be a real music party when three of the country's leading youth orchestras converge in a large symphony orchestra. This troika includes Norrbotten's Youth Symphony Orchestra (NUS), Västra Götaland's Youth Symphony Orchestra (VÄGUS) and the Stockholm Youth Symphony Orchestra (SUSO) - together over 110 musicians.
The collaboration is not unexpectedly called the Troika and has been going on for a few years, with concerts in Gothenburg and Stockholm. Now the turn has come to Skellefteå and a concert at Sara Kulturhus on 28 May.

This time the orchestra offers classics such as Modest Musorgsky - Paintings in an exhibition - where the music guides us around among a collection of works of art and Alexander Borodin's Polovtsian dances, where romantic melodies are interspersed with fiery oriental rhythms. The third work is taken from a completely different time and reality - Alva Stern's BB occupation, originally composed for NUS. The dancing piece is about the BB occupation in Sollefteå, where the composer Alva Stern, who then studied composition at the Academy of Music in Piteå, traveled to be inspired.

Conductor Emil Eliasson
Conductor is Emil Eliasson, who once started his musical career as a bassoon student at the Music School in Skellefteå, and whose conducting career has now really taken off.
