Lovisa Ringborg SILVER DAYS

Exhibition hall, Sara kulturhus, Skellefteå

Lovisa Ringborg SILVER DAYS 11 June - 21 September

Skellefteå Art Gallery will be visiting the exhibition hall in Sara Kulturhus this summer with a new exhibition SILVER DAYS by the artist Lovisa Ringborg.

Lovisa Ringborg often returns in her art to explore the subconscious; the abode of our innermost emotions where memory, imagination, intuition and habits are woven together and control our bodies and thoughts. In recent years, she has moved in the borderland between psychology and mysticism in her stagings and created her very own enigmatic world of images with the techniques of photography, video and sculpture.

In the exhibition Silver Days at Skellefteå Art Gallery, we are met by a number of photographs, made between the years 2020-2022, in a scale of gray tones and a triptych in red with motifs of untouched nature. Silver Days reproduces a kind of diary pictures of inner moods that are reflected in nature's various events. Time and transformation, the interaction between darkness and light, cold and heat, lead the viewer away from the desolate reality and the rational thinking to search within oneself. The greyhound sculptures, Stray Dogs, of rebar and clay with a patinated surface of earth, iron oxide and paint, as well as the dim landscape images of forest, thickets, rocks and marshes, reflect our senses and invite an unexplored, dreamy world to sink into.

Lovisa Ringborg was born in 1979 in Linköping and has a master's degree from the University of Photography at Valand Academy, University of Gothenburg. She has lived and worked in Stockholm since 2011.

Ringborg's works have been presented in exhibitions at Fotografiska Stockholm, Varbergs Konsthall, Norrköpings Konstmuseum, Alma Löv Museum, Bonniers Konsthall, Passagen / Linköpings Konsthall, Kulturhuset in Stockholm and in several exhibitions in Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, USA and South Korea. . Ringborg was awarded the Edstrand Foundation's scholarship in 2012 and the Victor Scholarship by the Hasselblad Foundation in 2010. Ringborg is represented in several collections such as the Moderna Museet, Norrköping Art Museum, Borås Art Museum, Statens konstråd, Hasselbladstiftelsen and Fries Museum, Leeuwarden, Holland and is represented by Cecilia Hillström Gallery in Stockholm. .
