The Swedish prog

Stage 4, Sara kulturhus, Skellefteå

A Storytelling-Live Documentary-Concert about the Swedish 70s.

Out of a political frustration and a desire to make the world a better place, and out of a musical frustration and a desire to create its own music culture, a unique movement grew in Sweden during the 1970s - starting with the Gärdesfesterna in 1970: The Music Movement, also called the Swedish prog.

We are making a journey that starts with Hansson&Karlsson and culminates ten years later with the Tent project. In between we get to meet Pugh, Contact, Träd Gräs och Stenar, Bo Hansson, John Holm, Monica Törnell, Blå Tåget, Hoola Bandoola Band, Nationalteatern, Nynningen, Marie Selander, Kebnekajse, Samla Mammas Manna, Ola Magnell, Turid and many more.

We follow how new alternative independent record labels like Silence and MNW challenge established commercial labels like Sonet and Metronome.

We also get to follow how a growing political dogmatism contributes to the eventual collapse of the Music Movement.

The performanceis performed by the musician and storyteller Stig Jäderberg and consists of three building blocks that constantly replace each other in a varied flow:

- The story
- Visual projections (live clips, interview clips, images)
- Songs performed with vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar and harmonica
From a column in Gotlands Allehanda 14-07-25 about Stig Jäderberg's performance "Neil Young's Shakey Life" at Almedal Week 2014:

"The best reading of the week..." "...a fantastic interplay between projector, guitar
and harmonica...”
