Carola 4 Faces - Musical - a declaration of love for musicals, songs & film music
Already in childhood, Carola opened her eyes to the dreamlike world of musicals and film music, and two of her favorites were Fred Astaire & Gingers Rogers. Alongside school, Carola attended Miniteatern where she participated in several different musicals and it was thanks to that school that she won her first talent competition as an 11-year-old with "Krokodilbarnets klagan".
Through films such as "Singing In The Rain" "The Wizard of Oz" with Judy Garland, "Swing it Magistern" with Alice Babs, "Rännstensungar" with Anita Lindblom and. Monica Zetterlund and "Gentle" with Barbra Streisand, sparked a love that lives on today. Carola has also performed with the legendary Liza Minelli in Sweden and with Kris Kristoffersen in a Norwegian movie. In their youth, the group "Tre tjejer" was formed, which performed in various television programs with songs such as Hasse & Tages' "Inte mood", "Take the A-train" and "Trollfløjten (An operetta)".
In 1995, Carola accepted the lead role as Maria in "Sound of music" at Göta Lejon. The performance was a great success and was played for two years and Carola performed all 426 performances. A performance for which she was awarded the Guldmasken theater award.
Carola is also the only one who has been invited to do a unique guest performance at the West End in London of Les Miserable where she sang "I Dreamed A Dream" and she has also sung musical classics in the same city with Tommy Körberg and a large orchestra and performed pieces from including "Jesus Christ Superstar".
When they were out in the archipelago, dad Jan played Elvis songs and Taube songs on the guitar. At the age of 12, Carola sang "Brevet från Lillan" in Olle Adolphson's TV show "Taube in our hearts" with Lill-Babs and Peter Harryson. Carola has also performed several times with Sven-Bertil Taube.
The love of songs and folk music was strengthened when the Norwegian music producer Erik Hillestad asked Carola to set one of Lina Sandell's beloved hymns "Mother's Swing", which was entered in the Norwegian Psalm Book. Together with Hillerstad, Carola has released five successful albums in which she has, among other things, interpreted hymns, Christmas carols, nursery rhymes and songs for life's celebrations, of which we will hear large parts.
Carola will also offer pieces from their newly written concert musical "Maria Magdalena", 16 songs, the music composed by Carola with lyrics by Erik Hillestad.
Carola's journey through the world of music comes to life during two exclusive evenings when she celebrates her love for musicals, songs and film scores on the main stage of Sara kulturhus.
Tickets for Carola's extra concert on October 13 will be released on Thusday, February 28, at 10.00.
