Norrlandsoperan presents: Galgenlieder
Stage 2, Sara kulturhus, Skellefteå
Music, song and poetry in an imaginative dream world
In a playful and surreal take, Norrlandsoperan interprets contemporary composer and polar prize winner Sofia Gubaidulina's song cycle Galgenlieder. With her musical interpretation of poems from Christian Morgenstern's humorous poem collection from 1904 of the same name, Gubaidulina wants to speak to our subconscious through mysterious and dreamy tones. This is raised to another poetic and evocative level when the philosophical thoughts of Morgenstern's humorous verses and Gubaidulina's unique sphere are given body and voice in this Twin Peaks inspired production.
Two musicians and a singer skillfully provide this multifaceted music for an hour in a dreamy bubble that invites the audience to stretch their heads up among the clouds and let their thoughts drift freely.
