Author visit - Mikael Berglund

Skelleftehamn's library, Skellefteå

Meet the author Mikael Berglund, who was awarded the Sveriges Radios Novelpris 2023 for his novel Ovanjorden . "Ovanjorden is an irresistible depiction of love, homesickness and alienation, seen through swarms of mosquitoes, sour holes and heather."

Mikael Berglund was born and raised in various places in Västerbotten, now living in Umeå. His debut novel was nominated for Katapultpriset, his second book Smekmånader was nominated for Svenska Dagbladet's novel prize. In 2022 came his third novel, Ovanjorden , which is about the preschool teacher Oskar and the reindeer herder Eija, illustrated by himself. The novel received a glowing review in DN and we have invited him to talk about his writing.
