MATS JONSSON IS BACK!
What do you do with the discovery that your own history is not complete, but has dark spots of the state's racial policy? Writing a book! In August nominee När vi var samer, Mats Jonsson has with a sure hand portrayed the story that is not only his story but the whole of Sápmi - and Sweden's. In the fall of 2024, the serial novel will be a theatrical performance at Västerbottensteatern and now you have the opportunity to listen to Mat's own story about the process behind the book.
Mats Jonsson (b. 1973) grew up in Bollstabruk and after many years in Stockholm he now lives and works in Sandslån in Ådalen. Since the age of 15, he has depicted his life in cartoons and has published seven autobiographical comic novels and four illustrated children's books.
Mats has sat on Babel's author panel and in summer 2021 he spoke in connection with the release of "When we were Sami".
