Open Ropes: All That's Worth

Stage 5, Sara kulturhus, Skellefteå

Performed in swedish

During the Storytelling Festival, the Västerbottensteatern opens its doors to the rehearsals of one of the autumn performances! Welcome to follow the work of "Everything that is worth" for an hour. The play is directed by Västerbottensteatern's new artistic director Johanna Salander and on stage we see Ellenor Lindgren.

A seven-year-old girl learns that her mother is in the hospital because she no longer wants to live.
To save her mother, the girl makes a list of everything worth living for:
1. Ice cream.
2. Water wars.
3. Striped things.
4. Kung fu movies.
5. Roller coasters…

The list continues to grow. And so does the girl.
We follow her from 1987 to today, from child to adult, through school, love, work - and new things are added to the list: Dancing alone, Coffee, Thinking up a declaration of love. As the list is filled with positive things, she begins to realize the importance of the list in her own life.
Perhaps is it even the case that the one who is really saved by the list is herself?

Every brilliant thing is the original title of the play, which in Västerbottensteatern's hands becomes EVERYTHING WORTH.
It is an uplifting play about depression that, with warmth, humor and hits from 1987 to today, tackles difficult subjects in a disarming, touching and funny way. And with this surprising monologue, the audience and the actor create the performance together.
