The world's first theater play in Umesamika

Trappscenen, Sara kulturhus, Skellefteå

During the opening day of the Sami language week, Henrik Barruk talks about his pioneering work to save the Umes Sami, a language that was close to extinction. He has also translated parts of the theater play "When we were Sami" into Ume Sami - it is the first time a play has been performed in the language. We also get to hear the actors from the ensemble of "When we were Sami" and Sara-Helén Persson, who acted as Ume Sami language coach in the production, talk about their work with the show.

In collaboration with Skellefteå's Sami association and Skellefteå city library
