Narration and showing of photos/film clips from a very unique workplace, the icebreaker Ale. We learn about what happens on the specially-built icebreaker, which not only breaks ice in the Bay of Bothnia but can also do so in Lake Vänern and can pass through the Göta Canal.
In what is typically a male-dominated workplace, we listen to Mona Lindberg as she shares her job experiences from a female perspective. In the future, more ships will dock in the northern ports, which means the importance of icebreakers will increase. Without icebreakers, ship traffic in northern Sweden would come to a halt.
