Who was Django Reinhardt?

The Belgian-French guitarist and composer Django Reinhardt (1910-1953) is considered one of the world's foremost jazz guitarists. He spent most of his childhood among Roma on the outskirts of Paris and played the guitar and violin from an early age. At the age of 18, he was badly burned and two fingers on his left hand were destroyed. He did not give up, however, and managed to develop his own playing style with new fingering and became one of the most admired guitarists in the world.
