Trappscenen, Sara kulturhus, Skellefteå
Poet, singer, and multidisciplinary artist Wilho Akseli Ollikainen (1934–1998) from Ullatti in Norrbotten lived, sang, felt, and reflected on existence, love, and darkness. He wrote about nature, the human condition, and the course of the world. Equipped with a cassette recorder and a typewriter, he composed, commented, and essentially blogged his experiences and reflections decades before the word “blog” was even invented. He created constantly—almost obsessively—and used art as a remedy for his inner demons.
The folk music group WAO (Wilho Akseli Ollikainen), featuring musicians from JP Nyströms, JORD, and JPP, have all been inspired and moved by Wilho Ollikainen’s artistic legacy in different ways. Drawing from his extensive and rich archive, they have created this new music and storytelling performance, directed by Kjell Peder Johansson. Wilho’s songs, ballads, poems, and above all his story, deserve to be heard and felt.
Welcome into Wilho’s world!
