Inauguration of the Storytelling Festival

Welcome to the opening night of the Storytelling Festival!

At the beginning of the Storytelling Festival, we gather to present this year's festival theme – Against the Grain – and offer some taste samples of everything that awaits during festival week.

This year's theme encompasses stories about people who go against the current, who are contrary, a bit different, and who refuse to follow the norm or live up to others' expectations. Stories that may ruffle a bit, surprise, perhaps evoke laughter – or make us pause and reflect.

During the evening, you will meet storytellers and co-organizers, experience storytelling, and learn more about the performances The Greatest Word and We Are Mammals.

Let the evening be your preview of a festival week filled with stories, encounters, and music – where every story can provide inspiration, strength, and community.

Welcome to celebrate storytelling and discover Against the Grain together with us!

Participants: Skellefteå's Storytelling Association, Västerbotten Weavers, Johanna Salander, an actress from the Västerbotten Theater, among others.
