A winter tale in words and music
A performance and a cross-disciplinary collaboration between the historian of ideas and author Sverker Sörlin and composer and cellist Johanna Sjunnesson, based on Sörlin's book “Snow – a history”.
The performance “SNOW – A WINTER TALE” can be described as a fusion of climate reverence and stand-up magic, where music and storytelling work together to provoke reflection on how snow affects us, both physically and emotionally.
Johanna Sjunnesson's musical language, which complements the text, is characterized by tone, stillness, and attentive listening, where the cello constitutes an independent artistic layer in the performance.
Niklas Zachrisson is the producer of the performance and has also produced Sverker Sörlin's summer and winter talks on P1.

The book Snow – a history by Sverker Sörlin has become one of the most acclaimed Swedish non-fiction books in recent years, and the rights to it have so far been sold to nine languages, including English, German, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. The work is unique, but an equally important explanation for the attention is the growing concern in the world, where the earth itself seems increasingly alien and its most basic elements, such as snow and ice, begin to behave differently –
not due to nature’s whims, but through our human actions.
