From and with Vanja Kittelmann Flensner
A newly written monologue performance about doubt, love, and a maid who went to the king, whose story has never been told before.
When Vanja faces a big decision, her thoughts start to swirl. "How am I supposed to know what I want? Can I live with someone who always happens to take my toothbrush? Would I die for your sake?" She embarks on a desperate attempt to understand herself and poses the question, "What would Margareta have done?"
Her name was Margareta! is a monologue performance that tells the story of Vanja's grandfather's, grandmother's, and great-grandmother's, Margareta Eriksdotter, who lived around the turn of the 18th to the 19th century.
Margareta worked as a maid on a farm in Berg – a small village outside Ullared, and when the master Per Svensson ended up in prison, she had to manage the farm all by herself. She took on all the work and completed the barn that Per had started. But after a while, she decided to go to Stockholm alone to try to bring Per home.
Vanja is a freelance actress, educated at the University of Theatre in Luleå. She is currently working at Profilteatern but has previously been active at, among others, Västerbottensteatern, Norrbottensteatern, and Helsingborg City Theatre.
Duration: approximately 50 minutes.
