The book that succinctly tells about the poor, about standing tall and moving forward. The author Madelene Edlund discusses how Vi kom från Johannes came to be and what it is like to be someone who goes against the grain.
You write well, but far too briefly! Even in school, Madelene Edlund learned that her texts were not long enough, not up to standard, not like others.
With compressed and rhythmic language, Madelene Edlund writes her novel Vi kom från Johannes. A story about the weak, the poor, those who rarely have a voice. A story about people who jostle and don’t fit in, who do their best and truly try. Trying to make things better, survive and move on. Vi kom frånJohannes is a tale about the inland and mountain regions of Västerbotten, about coming from the Sami to the Swedish. A story about what we leave behind, what we inherit, generation after generation. And when it’s time to say stop.
Madelene Edlund talks about the writing process, language and style, about inspiration and resistance, about being a bit contrary. A little contrary.
Madelene Edlund lives and works in Skeppsvik, Västerbotten, raised in Ångermanland.
