From fairy‑tale worlds to a contemporary symphony

The concert opens with Ravel’s Ma Mère l’Oye, an orchestral suite inspired by classic fairy tales. Here we meet, among others, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast.

This is followed by Grażyna Bacewicz’s Viola Concerto. We are delighted to once again welcome Timothy Ridout as soloist with Norrlandsoperan. After the intermission comes Symphony No. 2 by the popular contemporary Swedish composer Mats Larsson Gothe. The evening is conducted by Russian‑American conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya, currently based in London.
