Pingstkyrkan Second Hand PMU

PMU, Pentecostal Mission Development Cooperation, is an aid organization that, in addition to direct work on development projects and humanitarian efforts, also engages in advocacy work, communication and fundraising activities, and operates second-hand stores in Sweden.
At PMU's second-hand store in central Skellefteå, you can find clothes, decorative items, porcelain, books, and much more. In the store, it's just as good to discover something as it is to donate something that may no longer be in use.

Bröllopsstudion (the wedding studio) is an environmentally friendly alternative for those who want to experience the princess dream in a wedding dress shop with full service. Bröllopstudion is Sweden's first dress broker of used wedding dresses with hundreds of unique dresses in the store waiting for their new owner. Here you will find everything from original dresses from the 50s to the very latest models. You get help finding your way in the jungle of dresses and there is a trained change seamstress on site if adjustments are needed. All dresses have a story and it often turns out to be something completely different than you think, so dare to try something you did not think of.

Havsboden Burvik

In Sandvikens Fiskeläge, there are small fishing sheds scattered around the large, red building, and in one of the sheds is Havsboden Burvik. Here you will find secondhand and marine items in a unique natural and cultural environment. Sustainability is the focus, and both secondhand and new locally produced items are sold. Open during summer time and weekends.

Solkraft rondellen

Since its inception in 2008, Rondellen has been best known as a municipal recycling business with a shop. They receive and sell discarded furniture and equipment from Skellefteå municipality citizens. From 2016, it is possible to leave recycling to Solkraft at all ÅVC in Skellefteå municipality - part of the decision to protect the environment by recycling instead of throwing it away. To Rondellen you can donate furniture, home electronics, lamps, household utensils, toys, ornaments, paintings, books, records, movies, leisure items, games, carpets, fabrics, clothes and more. Everything that is complete and usable. The store also sells items made from recycled materials.

Red Cross

At the Red Cross' second-hand shop in central Skellefteå, you will find clothes, ornaments, crockery, books and much more. The surplus of the proceeds goes to relief activities, and when you shop second-hand at the Red Cross in Skellefteå, you also make it possible for them to keep their local social activities going.

Västerdrottningens tips that gets you the best secondhand finds

Thea Holmqvist, aka Västerdrottningen, is a master at flea market bargains and shares her best tips for finding the right one.

1. It is easy to forget to check for a tea strainer if you are also looking for boots, a ceiling lamp and picture frames in three different sizes. So, write a list of what you need! Preferably in a place you can easily access and often have with you - type it in your mobile.

2. Measure before! It is super annoying if you are looking for a sofa, find a sofa - and do not know if it fits in your home. If you are going home and measuring, it is not certain that the sofa is left when you get back. So measure before and have the measurements with you - or why not make a simple sketch for each room, so you are sure even with spontaneous findings?

3. Dare to change. Repaint, change fittings. Go to someone more knowledgeable if you do not want / can fix it yourself. And dare to think outside the box, that flowerpot might be a cool lamp if you turn it over?

4. Do your thing. Ignore what is trendy - if you chase it, you will soon be back again in search of something "new". Based on your needs and your own style, build and complement.

5. Dare to ask staff on site! It can feel overwhelming to check every nook and cranny sometimes. They often know if, and where, what you are looking for is. Sometimes, as in the case of my juice maya, it's still in the back of the warehouse.
