Soulful December – an unforgettable tradition in winter attire

When singer Britta Bergström, Norrbotten Big Band, and artistic director Joakim Milder join forces right in the midst of the busiest Christmas hustle, they deliver a concert experience of the absolute highest class. In 2026, a unique collaboration is set to take place with Lisa Miskovsky, Toussaint Chiza, and Joanné Nugas. Soulful December indeed takes place during the holiday season and offers that particularly warm feeling of community and anticipation, but it also dares to lift the gaze beyond the traditional jingles. The evening showcases handpicked songs where well-known hits and hidden gems meet in a big band format in completely new forms.

Norrbotten Big Band has long cemented its position as one of Europe’s most progressive and dynamic big bands. Together with artistic director Joakim Milder's intuitive sense, a uniquely beautiful musical encounter unfolds with this year's guest artists. Here, a unique and personal artistic signature is placed on the music—timeless, grand, sometimes minimalist, but always deeply moving.

This year, Soulful December presents an exceptional trio of artists:

Platinum-selling Lisa Miskovsky is one of the country's most established and beloved artists and songwriters. With over 200,000 albums sold, two Grammys, and five Rockbjörnar to her name, she effortlessly navigates between grand pop refrains and intimate expressions. In addition to her own hits, she has created worldwide hits for others, including Backstreet Boys' Shape of My Heart—and collaborated with giants like Max Martin and Joakim Berg. Recently, she has received great acclaim for the project Eljest, where she explores roots, identity, and the courage to embrace the different in Swedish. For this year's concerts, Lisa brings both personal gems and her unique stage presence.

Toussaint Chiza (formerly known as Tusse) has fully embraced his independence as an artist, creating music entirely on his own terms. With the critically acclaimed album It Takes a Village to Love a Child, he offers a powerful sound rooted in African gospel and contemporary soul from London and the USA. It is a compelling musical journey about origin, courage, and family, carried by an elemental force in his voice that goes straight to the heart. On stage, Toussaint radiates infectious energy, raw honesty, and irresistible soul warmth.

Versatile rising star Joanné Nugas possesses an incredible radiance and vocal range that captivates every audience. She is known as one of the leading voices in the legendary vocal ensemble The Real Group and as the Swedish voice of Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid. Over the past year, she has also enjoyed tremendous success in the lead role of Julia in the musical & Julia at Cirkus in Stockholm. With her dazzling vocal technique, precision, and charisma, Joanné adds an undeniable sparkle to the evening.

The host of the evening is, as always, the indispensable singer Britta Bergström, who, with a steady hand, humor, and loads of groove, guides the audience through a concert filled with musical brilliance, harmonies, and natural warmth.
