The Folk Movement Archive in Västerbotten is a regional archive tasked with collecting and preserving documents from Västerbotten's associations and popular movements.

Archive and visitor facilities are available in both Umeå and Skellefteå. In total, approximately 9,000 archival creators are stored here on 5,000 linear meters, making the archive the largest folk movement and association archive in Sweden.

The Folk Movement Archive contains documents from the traditional popular movements; the labor and trade union movement, the Free Church movement, sports, cooperation, and the temperance movement, but also a wealth of association material from areas concerning folk education, culture, and leisure as well as local archives, family archives, and personal archives.

In Skellefteå, you can access the archival material at Läroverket (formerly Forskarrum), a meeting place for local history, building conservation, and storytelling.

If you have a research question, want to request material or book a time
to submit archival material? All visits must be booked in advance.
