Architectural thinking and body awareness
Art, WorkshopSara kulturhus , Konstverkstan
Welcome to a workshop in Konstverkstan where we sculpt with our own hands in clay under the guidance of the artist Stina Persson.
Can the boundary between sculpture and body be blurred? How does it feel when a sculpture is created from within? In this open workshop, you will explore sculptural thinking and body awareness together with the artist Stina Persson, who often draws from the body and its inner processes in her own work. During this art workshop, she will guide you through her own techniques and methods as we collectively shape clay with a focus on touch, form, and presence.
This workshop is part of the Skellefteå Art Hall's art project “Tactile Traces – an exploration of an artist's processes and materials” which will take place during the autumn and winter of 2026. The project is commissioned by the cultural committee of Skellefteå municipality and aims to highlight artistic practices connected to the municipality both through a workshop and an exhibition. Through this project, we want to build bridges between established artists and the public.
A workshop for young adults and adults.
Free admission, no registration required.
No prior experience necessary.
---------------
Stina Persson, born in Burträsk and active in Stockholm.
Stina Persson works with sculpture in the borderland between the figurative and the abstract with a strong connection to body awareness. Often, there is a grounding in history and care, but the question of form – how it comes into being and how it gains validity – is always present. Although the end results are often made of rigid materials, the sculpture is treated as something permeable: a space that can be entered, experienced, and passed through.
Stina Persson has an MFA from Umeå University of Fine Arts and a BFA in Ceramics and Glass from Konstfack. Most recently, she was a fellow at Iaspis in Stockholm (Nov 2025 - April 2026). She has exhibited at Anna Bohman Gallery, the Royal Institute of Art, Aguélimuseum, Kummelholmen, Moderna Museet, Liljevalchs Art Hall, Galleri Hammaren, Lidköping Art Hall, Bildmuseet, among others.
Stina Persson has received several grants. In addition to exhibitions, she also works with public art installations. In 2023, her sculpture Lovers on a Rock was inaugurated at the City Hall in Stockholm. Website: www.stinapersson.se
