Beethoven at the piano and Schumann by the Rhine

The evening opens with music by Lisa Streich from Värmland, whose works are frequently performed by leading orchestras across Europe. On this occasion, we will hear her piece ALV, performed by the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra.

Next comes Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, often called the Emperor Concerto. Here, the piano and orchestra take turns carrying the musical narrative. The soloist is British pianist Paul Lewis, renowned for his interpretations of Beethoven. The concert is part of the lead‑up to Beethoven Year 2027, marking 200 years since the composer’s passing.
