What has throughout history been forbidden, taboo, or simply impossible to talk about?
Drawing on examples from the Skellefteå region, Anja Sundqvist Axelsen, collections curator at Skellefteå Museum, explores how people have lived and loved through the centuries.
The lecture highlights questions of sexuality and gender and touches on topics such as contraception, abortion, homosexuality and sexually transmitted diseases.
We meet people whose lives were shaped by the norms of their time, from the loneliness of believing they were the only person in the world to love someone of the same sex to the consequences that norm-breaking actions could bring.
Free admission, but registration is required! Please note that the lecture will be held in Swedish.
Join us for a fascinating story about people’s lives, relationships and the conditions of being yourself!
The lecture is part of the Storytelling Festival 2026.
