Carl-Johan Vallgren

Carl‑Johan Vallgren will release both the album Kaddish and the novel Kärleken on 16 October – two twin works about loss, love, and life after his wife’s passing, with reflections reaching back in time. Kaddish, produced by Johan Lindström, is Vallgren’s first album in 16 years.

“In a way, the album might be the soundtrack to the book – but it could just as well be the other way around, that the novel explains the album,” Vallgren says.

He had originally planned to write a sequel to the acclaimed novel Din tid kommer. When the desire to write didn’t appear, he instead picked up the guitar for the first time in many years. Melodies came quickly, and soon the idea for a novel on the same theme began to take shape. The two works then developed side by side.

“I started writing because I had no choice. I had to sort out what had actually happened in order to move forward with my life. The album and the book are also a farewell, a declaration of love, and above all a tribute to life.”

In autumn 2026, Carl‑Johan Vallgren and his musicians will embark on a nationwide tour across Sweden.
