Sara Parkman Trio

Sara Parkman is the folk musician who has questioned and embraced traditions so boldly and thoughtfully that she has created her own musical universe — and in doing so become the leading figure of contemporary Swedish folk music.

When her latest album Eros Agape Philia was released in October 2022, it was met with rave reviews. Nöjesguiden awarded its highest possible rating and wrote: “It is folkloric, mystical, powerful and modern.” Gaffa, giving it five out of six, called it “a much‑needed counterweight to those who think folk music belongs in a heritage museum.” The album became Parkman’s major breakthrough, topping DN’s album chart for five consecutive weeks.

Over the years, Sara Parkman has been repeatedly honoured at the Folk & World Music Gala, received Dagens Nyheter’s Culture Prize, been named Best Live Act at the Manifest Gala, and won the Grammis Award for Folk Music of the Year.

Beyond her album success, she has completed several fully sold‑out tours and appeared on Jill’s Veranda in Nashville.

In the summer of 2023, Parkman embarked on an extensive tour with 18 stops across Sweden and Norway, including Rosendal Garden Party in Stockholm and Way Out West in Gothenburg. She also won the 2023 Grammis Award for “Folk Music of the Year.”

In winter 2025, Sara Parkman returns with the church tour Kura skymning. Performing together with musicians Hampus Norén and Anna Möller, she describes what awaits: “It will be a cycle of seasons and song. Music on three, wood, fiddle and bellows. And voices that embrace and carry away. Big shouts, deep drones and intimate songs.”

Sara Parkman’s third album Vesper is a record you’re not meant to fully grasp — and that is meant as praise. DN Kultur (4/5): “It brims with choirs, sweeping synths, folk tunes, epic pop, hymns, climate reflections. It is sprawling, powerful.”

Göteborgs‑Posten (5/5): “Sara Parkman is a force of nature. A determined soul who has lovingly but firmly grabbed folk music by the collar, shaken it, turned it upside down, questioned it, challenged it and thrown it onto the messy rug of contemporary life — while also daring to be fragile, sad and small. That is how great art is made.”

HYMN (9/10): “Vesper is a political torch. Against capitalism, consumption and environmental destruction. About spirituality and euphoria. About the political potential of the people and what religion does to us. Vesper is in many ways utterly brilliant. When the final bow stroke fades, I am floored.”

The concert with Sara Parkman is part of Berättarfestivalen 2026.
