After sold‑out performances, roaring laughter, and praise from both critics and audiences during the 2024/2025 run at Cirkus in Stockholm, the stage hit Tomten är far till alla barnen now returns to selected arenas across Sweden.

When the beloved 1999 cult film made its stage debut in 2024, a brand‑new Swedish Christmas tradition was born. On stage, audiences followed the now‑legendary Christmas Eve when Sara invites her three ex‑husbands and their new families to celebrate the holidays together with her reluctant partner Janne. What was meant to be an idyllic family gathering quickly spirals into explosive chaos as old relationships, secrets, and conflicts erupt beneath the Christmas tree.

Director Rikard Bergqvist transformed the film’s iconic story into a fast‑paced stage production filled with physical comedy, musical moments, and a top‑tier ensemble. Critics described the result as a laugh‑filled whirlwind where any initial hesitation from the audience was swiftly replaced by thunderous laughter.

The Stockholm premiere in November 2024 marked the beginning of a major audience success. The production played to full houses, was praised by the press, and continued to grow in popularity throughout 2025—earning the title of “Stage Production of the Year” at the Swedish Humor Awards.

The hysterically funny, lovingly chaotic, and utterly unpredictable Christmas Eve returns in 2026 with some of Sweden’s most beloved actors. Meet Liv Mjönäs, Linus Wahlgren, Eva Röse, Jakob Setterberg, Fredrik Hallgren, Clara Henry, Magnus Betnér, Julia Dufvenius, Inez Dahl Torhaug, Anton Lundqvist & Eva Rexed. Together, they bring to life a Christmas show where doors slam, secrets unravel, and laughter is never far away.

One thing is certain: No one celebrates Christmas quite like the family in Tomten är far till alla barnen.
