Where was home?
LectureBurträskarnas hus
Burträskarnas hus
20 Oct 13:00 - 14:00
During the Second World War, more than 1,100 Finnish refugees came to the Burträsk area. They were unaccompanied children, families, young women and older people who left their homes in search of safety across the border.
Some stayed, while others returned to Finland. But memories from this period still remain in the local community.
Through stories, photographs and archival material, Sandra Marklund, museum educator at Skellefteå Museum, highlights some of the people who came here and their life stories.
