How can a simple piece of graph paper be transformed into something three-dimensional? Welcome to a creative workshop led by the artist Maja Delborn.

Using white paper in various thicknesses and the grid as a starting point, we explore the territory where drawing meets sculpture. We begin by drawing simple lines that, through folded squares of paper, gradually grow and take on a three-dimensional form.

Maja Delborn's own work is often driven by self-imposed rules and tasks – a way to disconnect the brain from the hands in order to create without a finished idea. This workshop is based on just such an exercise. You will discover how an ordinary notebook and cut-out paper can, in a simple and direct way, become something completely unexpected.

No prior knowledge required, just curiosity!
Free admission, no registration
Age: For young adults and adults

Maja Delborn has a versatile artistic and craft background. She is educated at HDK-Valand, the College of Textile in Borås, as well as through two preparatory years at Steneby School in Dalsland. In her creation, she works exploratively and process-based, often focusing on structure, repetition, and the hidden potential of materials. In her first year after obtaining her bachelor's degree, she has worked on several notable exhibitions and residencies, including an artistic project at The Glass Factory in Boda Glasbruk. Her strong start in her professional life has also led to her being selected this year to participate in the Textile Movement Talent Programme, where she continues to explore the boundary between strict instructions and tactile creation.

The art project Tactile Traces. In the fall and winter of 2026, Skellefteå Art Gallery presents the art project Tactile Traces. Through public, creative workshops and a joint exhibition, we focus on artistic learning, creative processes, and local anchoring.

The project aims to highlight professional artistic practices that have a connection to our municipality. Through Tactile Traces, we want to build bridges between established artists and the public, where visitors gain a unique insight into how a work is developed – from motivation and method to finished result.
