Are you tired of your tulips drooping? Or can’t you find the perfect anemone to put in your vase? Let’s create our own flowers that can last year after year.

In this workshop, we will explore creative creation with a focus on flowers and recycling. The idea is to work with textiles in a playful and free way, allowing participants to create their own flowers to take home, while also contributing to a communal flower installation that will remain at the location where it is created.

We primarily use various types of fabric scraps and reused textiles. Participants are encouraged to bring an old garment, a piece of fabric, or any other material from home that they like. This way, they will have the opportunity to experiment with upcycling and give old materials new life.

We will explore different techniques such as cutting, gluing, and hand-sewing, and test stuffing and various types of materials in the stems to create shape and stability.

Target group: Young adults, adults
Free entry, no registration, but limited number of participants.

Organizer: Skellefteå Municipality/Skellefteå Art Hall

--------------------------------------

Moa Märta Markgren is a textile-driven artist who operates in the borderland between illustration, objects, and spatiality. Through her work, she investigates how visual expressions influence our experience of everyday environments, how images can change, shift, and deepen what we otherwise take for granted. She works vividly and form-strongly with objects and symbols that many recognize, but in materials and scales that don’t quite match reality.

Her artistic work develops in close dialogue with the place, whether it concerns a home, a public space, or an exhibition environment. It is based on a continuous exploration of the relationship between form and function, need and desire, where each piece carries a care for what is sustainable and slow, for what can remain over time.

Moa Märta Markgren has completed a year of graphic design at Dômen Art School and a year in artistic idea formation at Gothenburg Art School as well as holds a bachelor’s degree in design from HDK-Valand. Currently, she is working on a public artwork for Sundsvall Hospital, graphic design for a restaurant in Gothenburg, and illustrations for a light installation in Rinkeby.

In the autumn and winter of 2026, Skellefteå Art Hall will present the art project Taktila spår. Through public, creative workshops and a joint exhibition, we focus on artistic learning, creative processes, and local anchoring.

The project aims to highlight professional artistic practices that are connected to our municipality. Through Taktila spår, we want to build bridges between established artists and the public, where visitors get a unique insight into how a piece grows – from drive and method to finished result.
