Dance in the November Darkness

A DANCE FESTIVAL THAT LIGHTS UP THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER

Participate in the art of dance, experience, move and be moved, here are several program activities to take part in regardless of age and experience. Welcome to a dance party for everyone!

The festival originated from Skellefteå Dans & Balettförening's performances and is made possible with the support from Dans i Västerbotten/Norrlandsoperan, Visit Skellefteå and Skellefteå Kommun together with Skellefteå Dans & Balettförening, Skellefteå Kulturskola, Skellefteå Riksteaterförening, Sara Kulturhus and Danscentrum Norr.

November 23-26 - A dance marathon in 6 parts

Dans & Balletföreningen's member performance, Dans i Novembermörkret, is happening again at Nordanå. Our dance groups from 6 years and up together with invited guests participants.

Torch dance

Come and experience an atmospheric torch dance outside Nordanå. A tradition that lights up during Dance in the November Darkness.

Everlasting event

NOVEMBER 28

An evening in change and where the dance is created right in front of you. Two works by two specific artists where the focal point is improvisation.

In the work Event by Australian James Batchelor, you encounter a repetitive, flowing and well-shaped choreographic language. Baroque ornaments and ring dancing coexist with Berlin's techno beats.

Väven - After school performance

NOVEMBER 29

Väven is a performing artpiece based on and inspired by weaving as a craft, work and place in society.

It is a meeting between the movement-based stage art and the weaving textile art and the weaving textile art.
Through the astonishing possibilities of the circus and the abstraction of dance, we move under, over, through and together with the loom and its fabric.

Skellgrooves Jam & Battle

NOVEMBER 30

Finally, a Jam & Battle in break and freestyle is arranged in Skellefteå, SKELLGROOVES!

Host for the evening is Mikael Ståhl and he will make sure that the dance atmosphere is kept up. Come as you are, clap and support or swing along on the floor to lovely funk, house and hip hop music.
