Furuögrund Guest Harbor

Skellefteå

Byske Boat Club's home harbor with approximately 15 guest berths is well sheltered from most winds and has good depth even for sailboats. The harbor is located about 5 km from Byske, where you can easily go to Provision using the boat club's loaner bicycles. In the old harbor warehouse lies Furuögrund's Harbor café, known for its delicious shrimp sandwiches and pastries, which can be enjoyed on the outdoor terrace or in the green grass.

On the beach just north of the harbor, a tide gauge was built in 1914, and housed in a beautiful house. This tide gauge, which measures the sea level, is unique because it is manual. Nearby is Romelsön with origins from the Viking Age. In 1543, the island was mentioned in Gustav Vasa's Land Register as "Rumholsöijarne" and was owned by the farmers in Ostvik. In 1652, Queen Christina donated Romelsön to Piteå City. The area also includes Halsön and Hamnskär, two lovely excursion destinations.
