Stay on a raft

Bureå, Skellefteå

Who hasn’t dreamed of staying in a floating cabin? The float is beautifully situated out at sea near Björkön, about 2 km from Bureå Camping. Staying on a floating cabin means that many of the conveniences of home are unavailable. For example, there is no electricity or drinking water, and no modern toilets or washing facilities.

The raft

The floating cabin is actually three rafts joined into a large structure of about 90 m². On two of the rafts, there are cabins (about 15 m² each), each accommodating up to 4 people. Between the cabins, there’s a raft with a wood-fired sauna for 4-6 people and an outdoor toilet. The float also has a bench/table outside the sauna that seats 6-8 people. There is no electricity or drinking water on the floats. Diving is strictly prohibited from the floats, as they rest in relatively shallow water where submerged logs may be present.

The Cabin

The cabins have two beds with double mattresses, allowing two mattresses to be placed on the floor if you’re a group of 4. Pillows and duvets are provided in drawers under the beds, but guests must bring their own bed linens. Due to the challenge of dishwashing, no kitchen utensils or cutlery are provided, so guests should bring what they need. Drinking water must also be brought along. Kitchen utensils and water jugs are available for free loan at the campsite, but they must be cleaned and returned.

The Sauna

The sauna is a small one, which makes it quick to heat. It is wood-fired, and guests are responsible for bringing their own firewood, which can also be purchased at the campsite. Under no circumstances may flammable liquids be used to light the sauna fire.

Transport to the Float

The float is not connected to the land, so boat transport is required to reach it. It’s about 500 m in sheltered water from the harbor to the float, or about 100 m from Danielsten. Transport can be arranged in various ways but must be booked in advance if not arranged independently.

You can book transport by motorboat (from the harbor to the float). Kayaks, Icross, and SUP boards can also be rented from Bureå Camping (float rental includes a 50% discount on rental prices).

Pricing

When renting the float, you have access to the entire float, sauna, and toilet. You can choose to rent one or both cabins, depending on your group size and needs. Even if you only rent one cabin, you’ll have the float to yourself, including access to the sauna.
