Hittaut – A Free Outdoor Activity for Body and Mind

Hittaut is a free wellness activity that activates both body and mind. Everyone can participate, regardless of previous orienteering experience or fitness level.

From May 16 to October 12, 2025, all residents and visitors in Skellefteå are invited to Hittaut across our vast municipality and discover some of the hidden gems right in our backyard. And we truly mean everyone – Hittaut is available in 15 locations within the municipality, with a total of 495 checkpoints to find.

Using either a paper map or the Hittaut app, your mission is to locate checkpoints. There are four different difficulty levels, and the checkpoints are placed in urban areas, parks, residential neighborhoods, and nearby forests. Hittaut is accessible 24/7 throughout the summer season, so you can head out whenever it suits you. Participate on your own or with others – walk, run, bike, or choose any way you like to get around.

One of the most common comments is:
"A fantastic way to get outside, discover new places in your local area, and get some exercise while you're at it."
It’s free, easy to get started, either with the "Hittaut" app or by picking up a paper map at your local store or at Skellefteå Tourist Center, located at Trädgårdsgatan 7 in central Skellefteå.
