Icons – an exhibition about being allowed to exist

Sara kulturhus, Skellefteå

Glada Hudik's exhibition icons are coming to Skellefteå and Sara Torget. A photo exhibition that presents portraits of famous icons and archetypes where the 21 models from all over Sweden have several things in common; dreams, emotions, and Down syndrome.

The exhibition raises questions about how we can create a more open and tolerant society and how we can uplift a marginalized group. It also explores difficulties and challenges, emphasizing that visibility fosters understanding of differences.

We can all, with our qualities and shortcomings, contribute to creating a richer society.

The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Fotografiska Museum and Glada Hudik theater's Pär Johansson, photographer Emma Svensson, and costume designers Linda Sandberg and Helena Andersson. Previously showcased in Berlin and Stockholm, as well as in Uppsala and at the Almedal Week, it is now coming to Skellefteå. The outdoor display will be located outside the Sara Cultural Center from Tuesday, March 7, to Tuesday, April 30.
