Cultural History Walk at Nordanå
Skellefteå museum, Skellefteå
Tuesdays this summer, you are welcome to join one of the museum’s hosts for cultural-historical guided tours through Nordanå Park and its surroundings. It’s free of charge and no registration is required. Note! The event is held in Swedish.
Did you know that there used to be a sawmill below the Landskyrkan (Parish Church), or that there was once a health spring by the river? The area from Nordanå to the Lejonström Bridge was formerly known as "Körran" and originally belonged to the Priest’s estate. On this cultural-historical walk, you’ll learn more about the area between Nordanå and Lejonström, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask your guide questions!
The walk, which lasts about one hour, starts at the museum’s main entrance and ends in Bonnstan at Chamber 304, which you are welcome to step inside to quietly feel the presence of history.
No two guided tours are alike, and you are welcome to join more than one.
The tour is free of charge!
The cultural-historical walks take place every Tuesday at 1:00 PM, from June 17 to July 29.
This year marks 100 years since Skellefteå Museum moved to Nordanå, then located in the former officer’s residence, Nyborg. We will celebrate with events throughout the year, features on social media, and a grand celebration at Nordanå on September 14.
