In the landscape around this place, the plants remain and outlive me. Even though they wither every autumn, they reappear the next year. In this way, they can instill both hope and comfort. I had a dream a few years ago: Somewhere in the dusty halls of a library, I found a yellowed board with a drawing of a seed and in writing style with clear letters: Ebba (my name) means seed. Actually, the name comes from the Germanic Eberhart, which means wild boar. But as in all dreams, here the truth that I always knew was revealed. A seed.

What does it mean to be a whole person? To work with places that many people have a relationship with in their everyday lives and to bring an existential dimension there, is a deep-seated motivation in my artistry. Right now I am working on the relationship between the plant kingdom and humans, a relationship that has existed since the first human stepped across the savannah and on which our entire existence depends. I have been a full-time professional artist since my graduation from Konstfack in 2008, with both monumental and smaller public works and with exhibitions mainly in the Nordic countries. This autumn I will have a solo exhibition in the collections at the Hagströmer Library, which is a medical history research library and book museum at Karolinska Institutet. I will also inaugurate a new public work for Stockholm konst this summer “Seven Kinds of Flowers”.
