Children aged 3 years and up are welcome to join a workshop (1 hour per child/family) on June 1st between 2-4 pm which will be led by artists Stina and Klara Wirsén Suchowiak where the starting point is form, playfulness and materiality.
The public sculpture group Vila & Famna, which was inaugurated at Sara Cultural Center in 2023, will serve as inspiration for the children's collective production of several works in different materialities and themes during the workshops. During the summer, these works will be temporarily displayed in the windows of Sara Kulturhus.
The sculptures Vila & Famna are designed by Stina Wirsén & Klara Wirsén Suchowiak. The shapes, colors and expression invite children and their adults to climb, fantasize, tackle, kiss, hug and play. In the evening the sculptures light up, and if you walk close to them you might hear their heartbeat.
For Klara Wirsén Suchowiak, who is also Stina's daughter, Wirsén's images are tactile, they move and go straight in. Klara wanted to express that feeling in physical form, the sculptures Vila and Famna are the result of Klara interpreting Stina's visual world three-dimensionally. They have collaborated on expression and feeling, which has resulted in a new common design language, which they continue to explore.
Stina Wirsén is an illustrator and author who has received a number of awards for her illustrations over the years. She has illustrated ABC books, anthologies and picture books, among other things.
Klara Wirsén Suchowiak is an artist and sculptor with a focus on democracy and sustainability. She has won several awards, including the Form sustainability award and the Young Swedish form – IKEA award winner.
