My name is Maria Lilja Ahlberg, and during the pandemic years, I began painting as a way to express feelings and hope through form and color. I mostly paint abstract nature motifs in acrylic and oil, playfully creating flowers and trees in both form and hue. Some of the plants may resemble real ones, but that's purely coincidental.
The light, which is the central element in most of my paintings, is meant to lift both you and me toward a hopeful and beautiful future.
Many people carry sorrow, loneliness, and anxiety. Through my images, I want to express that:
"There is a bright future and hope."
Lenitha
A few years ago, I decided to dedicate more time to my art, and that decision has led to an exciting journey along the path of painting.
I enjoy working with acrylic, oil, mixed media, and layered painting techniques. It’s both exciting and inspiring to paint intuitively and to play with colors without pressure to perform, experiencing how a subject gradually emerges on the canvas. On the other hand, it can be just as thrilling to try painting a specific object, or to start with a photograph and then create my own interpretation of the subject.
My art is often inspired by the sky, the sea, and the beautiful variations found in nature. The motifs reflect my experience of the world around and within me—both reality and imagination.
Light and color choices are recurring themes in my paintings, and through them, I aim to bring more light and joy into the world.
