Literary Voices on Northvolt – Between Promise and Reality

Skellefteå

Skellefteå Museum and the literary journal Provins invite you to an evening of in-depth readings and conversation centred on one of the region’s most talked-about contemporary developments – the Northvolt battery factory.

The event marks the release of a special issue of Provins, titled Northvolt Ett ("Northvolt One"), in which a range of writers explore the factory and its impact on people and society from diverse perspectives.

At the same time, the evening is part of Skellefteå Museum’s ongoing work to document and bring to life the industrial history of Skellefteå – past, present, and future.

The evening opens with a welcome by the museum’s Director, Mikke Ejrevi, followed by readings and a panel discussion with several of the contributing writers. Please note that the reading will be in Swedish.

Featuring:
Jens Unosson – self-sufficient homesteader, conservationist, writer and musician
Låda att fånga tvåfot i
Living off the land and working in nature conservation, Jens Unosson brings a subtly Luddite perspective to his contribution. In his poem Låda att fånga tvåfot i, he reflects on the structures of civilisation and the ecological, technological and existential crossroads we face. His writing is both critical and visionary, imagining ways of living beyond today’s dominant world order.

Nils Lundkvist – author and teacher
Anteckningar från 2:ans buss
Award-winning writer Nils Lundkvist, known for his debut novel The Cube, contributes a suite of poems inspired by observations from Skellefteå’s number 2 bus line – a journey through a town in flux. His work captures everyday moments in a place shaped by rapid growth, shifting expectations, and constant movement.

Maria Wallin – cultural journalist and arts coordinator for Skellefteå Municipality
Det stora hoppet
Former culture and entertainment editor at Norran, Maria Wallin makes her fiction debut in this issue of Provins. Her text Det stora hoppet is a testimony from a small town undergoing swift transformation. It tells the stories of those who stayed, those who left, and the owners of the now-empty houses.

Host for the evening: Mattias Timander
