Fishing Course for Children and Youth

Skellefteå

This is a beginner's course in fishing that runs over two semesters – from late summer to spring – and includes around ten sessions. During the course, participants will try out various fishing methods: traditional angling, ice fishing, and spin fishing. The course includes both theory and hands-on practice, and we adapt the level to suit the participants – no previous experience is needed.

In late summer, we take the opportunity to fish as much as possible while the conditions are at their best. When winter arrives, we head out onto the ice for ice fishing – an activity we’ll return to several times during the season, depending on ice conditions and weather. We also include a theory evening focused specifically on ice fishing techniques and safety.

As spring approaches and the ice begins to melt, we practice casting techniques and spin fishing. The course ends with a group outing where we fish with spinning rods and round off the season together.

Important Information

• The course takes place primarily outdoors in forests and nature areas, sometimes in rough terrain.
• Participants must be able to move independently and have appropriate clothing for both warm and cold weather.
• Age: The course is mainly intended for participants aged 12–15.
• We aim for a balanced gender distribution in the group.
• Selection may occur if interest is high.
• Fishing equipment is included in the participation fee.
