Skellefteå is beautiful - author visit by Mats Söderlund

Skelleftehamn's library, Skellefteå

What are your gems? Where do you find wild berries? Where do you listen to the great lapwing? And how are your favorite strawberry spots affected by warmer winters, wetter springs and drier summers? Poet and author Mats Söderlund, who grew up in the Skellefteå region, talks about the book Härlig är jorden, which was awarded the Norrland Literature Prize 2024. A conversation about places we love and how we can best protect them.

Mats Söderlund is a writer and poet, born in Sundsvall, raised in Skellefteå and now living in Simrishamn. He debuted in 1992 with the poetry collection Det står en pöbel på min trapp and was awarded the Katapult Prize as the year's best debutant. Since his debut, he has published around twenty books and received several prizes and scholarships for his works. In 2018–2020, the climate fantasy trilogy "Ättlingarna" was published, which largely takes place in the areas around Skelleftehamn and the Kvikkjokksfjällen mountains.
