Peter Halldorf is an author and honorary doctor of theology at Lund University. He is editor of the journal Pilgrim, a retreat leader, and former director of the ecumenical community at Bjärka-Säby. He is a frequently requested lecturer and remains a central figure in Swedish ecumenism.

Peter Halldorf contributes to the conversation about the theological vision in which the church needs to be rooted as she responds and acts in the current crisis, offering us a language of hope. The lecture is based on his book Therefore the Earth Mourns.

The Holy Land is deeply wounded by the seemingly endless conflict between Israelis and Palestinians—especially after the black Saturday of 7 October 2023 and the subsequent war in the Gaza Strip. Can the Hebrew prophets offer perspectives that bridge the deep divisions, including within the church, regarding the Christian faith’s Jewish roots and the question of who has the right to call the disputed land their “home”?
