Ljusvassgården in Ljusvattnet outside Burträsk is a small-scale farm where Anne Sandlund shares her harvest of vegetables and flowers with others.
By sowing in batches, the harvest is spread out over the season and the plants get a head start on weeds. The cultivation is based on organic, ungrazed seeds and much of the work is done by hand. Nutrients for the soil come from cow and horse manure from nearby farms, compost and cover crops.
Everything is grown without artificial fertilizers and chemical pesticides. Instead, the crops are protected with non-woven fabric and, if necessary, biologically approved preparations – a method that benefits both the vegetables and life in the soil.
In addition to the cultivation itself, Anne offers vegetable subscriptions, workshops, and other activities for those who want to learn more or enjoy the harvest up close.
