How did it really happen when Algot Johansson AB, for many years Sweden’s largest clothing company, established itself in Västerbotten?
Industrial historian Johannes Daun, based at the Textile Museum in Borås, tells the story of Algots – from success and expansion in Borås, Finland and Portugal to the ambitious venture of opening new factories in Västerbotten in the 1970s. (NOTE! In Swedish)
In the light of Västerbottensteatern’s production Stygn (“Stitch”), the lecture offers insight into everyday life at the factories, the hopes that were invested, and the dramatic bankruptcy that soon reshaped the future for both the company and its employees.
Welcome to the Auditorium at Nordanå. Free admission, but registration is required – [Link to registration].
The lecture is arranged in collaboration between Skellefteå Museum and Folkrörelsearkivet i Västerbotten.
