How can the little Nightingale sing so beautifully that even death retreats? How can the most powerful person in the whole land not have heard the little gray bird's song? The Nightingale is indeed a very special bird. No wonder the emperor wants to lock it up in his palace so that it can sing for him all day long. But the little gray bird is not going to be locked up to play the emperor's pipe.

Love, imagination and creativity have one thing in common: they all wither under duress. HC Andersen's classic fairy tale about the Nightingale is about exactly that, that freedom is a prerequisite for life. In Teater Kung och Drottning's version, we bring this classic work to the forefront of modern technology. It is storytelling theatre, but also an audio experience. The audience is surrounded and enclosed in the soundscape that, together with the actor, paints images and environments and moves the story forward. The Nightingale is, in our opinion, a very modern classic.
