Musikaliska Talks med Lars Lindström

Trappscenen, Sara kulturhus, Skellefteå

Book release inspiring conversations about musical memories from Skellefteå with journalist and author Lars Lindström.

Skellefteå native Lars Lindström, former journalist at Expressen and Norran, makes his literary debut with Hästar finns inte. At this book release, held in connection with Musikaliska Talks, he will talk about the role of music in the novel as well as share musical memories from Skellefteå.

Per Strömbro will lead the conversation with Lars, discussing both the book and Lars’ earlier work within music and journalism. The talk will touch on, among other things, how Lars co-founded the music association Morgan in 1980. The association organized Ebba Grön’s first concert north of the Dal River, and later hosted shows with Peter LeMarc, Docenterna, Raj Montana Band, and Imperiet – always featuring local opening acts.

Lars Lindström’s journalism career began at Norran in Skellefteå, where he became a voice for the local music scene as well as the national one. For a few years, he also worked as a music critic for Expressen. More recently, Lars has composed his own music under the artist name Lndstrm. For the book release, he has composed a special piece released under the pseudonym Aransa Izem, one of the main characters in the novel.

There will, of course, be live music as well – performed by Fanny Lundmark. Fanny is a well-known face on music stages across northern Sweden, especially in her hometown Skellefteå. Audiences have seen her deliver everything from blues and soul to hard rock and beyond. For this event, she will present a stripped-down selection of personal favorites.

About the book
Lars Lindström’s debut novel Hästar finns inte is set in a near future where Sweden has changed. Two young people meet by chance through music, fall in love, and try to survive as their world rapidly transforms. The drama begins in Stockholm but escalates and reaches its climax in the rural interior of Västerbotten.
