Celebrating 50 Years of Christmas at Nordanå

Nordanå, Skellefteå

On 7 December we invite you to a special jubilee day filled with crafts, activities and Christmas spirit for all ages. For many years, the Christmas Market at Nordanå has been a much-loved destination – a tradition that has brought generations together in the run-up to Christmas.

The very first market was held in 1975, when the museum’s own staff manned eight stalls by Nyborg, selling homemade bread and hand-dipped candles. The demand was so great that local craftspeople were soon invited to join, and the market quickly grew in both size and popularity.

Even today, the stallholders are the heart of the market. Thanks to their craftsmanship, skills and creative design, we can still offer a market of high quality and genuine atmosphere. Alongside their creations, visitors can also enjoy a wide range of activities – both outdoors and inside the main building.

The full programme for the day will be published in November.

The Christmas Market is a collaboration between Skellefteå Museum and the Department of Culture and Meeting Places, Skellefteå Municipality.
